New Kia K5 Could be Hinting at Next-Gen Optima
The next-generation Optima could be on its way, as the new South-Korean spec K5 has been released, growing in size with stunning new design
Having recently been pulled from sale, the future of the Kia Optima is uncertain. At the time Kia told the press that it had no plans to launch a replacement model. However, the new Korean Spec Kia K5 has heavily hinted at a potential new model.
This new model features a range of new styling changes, which would likely be adopted by the next-generation of its European sister model.
A new, more purposeful and sportier stance has been achieved with the body now being narrower between its wheel arches, with stronger swage lines adding bolder creases along the side panels of the car. The door windows are for the first time frameless and chrome detailing now extends right through to the rear bumper.
In overall dimensions, the car is now similar in size to the Vauxhall Insignia Grand sport. A total of 50mm had been added to its length, with an extended wheel base of 2850mm. Thanks to a new range of alloy wheels up to 19” and suspension being lowered by 20mm, the stance is now much sportier.
This model will not be available in the UK, but you might expect to see a replacement for the Optima out in the next year or so, if you’re lucky…
