Kia win hat-trick of awards in 2019 Driver Power Survey

Six models from the 2019 Kia range have finished in the top 30 of the 2019 Auto Express Driver Power Survey. The Kia Picanto, Rio and Sorento were all awarded with the top spot in their respective categories and Kia was placed third in the manufacturer awards, an improved of five places from the previous year. Kia achieved its high ranking due to impressive scores in ‘Practicality and Boot Space’ and ‘Reliability and Build Quality’.

The survey is completed yearly by real car owners and is the UK’s number one customer satisfaction survey, reviewing manufacturers, dealers, insurance and breakdown covers. The results provide an insight on what real cars owners actually think of the vehicles they have purchased, helping future buyers make a better purchase decision.


The Kia Picanto was named the best City Car in the survey, scoring just over 91% by its owners. Key highlights leading to its victory included the Hill-start Assist Control as standard and the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist available from the ‘3’ grade.


The Kia Sorento achieved a score of 93% to win the best Large SUV category, it also finished fourth in the overall rankings of cars on sale in the UK. The Sorento finished first overall for ‘Practicality and Boot Space’ due to its seven seats and large boot capacity of 605 litres. The interior and infotainment system were also highly regarded by owners.


The Kia Rio was awarded the top position in the Supermini category with a score of 91% from its owners. The Rio scored highlight in the ‘MPG and Running Costs’ and ‘Reliability and Build Quality’ categories, the owners were very impressed with the 1.0 T-GDi 99bhp engine due to its high fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions – 48.7mpg and 114g/km*.   


Other notable rankings in the Kia range include the Niro Hybrid finishing in tenth place and Sportage finishing in fourteenth. The Stonic and Ceed also ranked within the top 30.
